Environmental subjects are close to NIT’s team members’ hearts and the team is committed to making environmentally sound decisions on a daily basis. The Green Office awarded label from the Finnish WWF reflects this. As part of this collaboration project with the Finnish WWF, the NIT team is having an energy saving week during the week of 5.-11.10.2015.
-Upholding the responsibility to reduce our ecological footprint and greenhouse gas emissions is important for our team. In today’s life there are a lot of possibilities and ways to do things and through making ecologically correct choices in work and private life this promise can be kept. These choices don’t exactly need big efforts to make a big impact, describes Mrs. Tanja Arola, member of the NIT’s Green Office team.
– Sustainable development-way of thinking has become more and more important to NIT and NIT constantly strives to make more contentious and environmentally sound decisions relating to the environment. NIT routinely informs its staff about more ecological solutions. How is this energy saving week seen on a practical level? We do the following: shutdown lights and electrical equipment when possible, ecological movement (sharing or public transport, bicycling or walking, remote work possibilities), ecological driving and more ecological shopping decisions, she adds.
