NIT has delivered great spaces for the new Costa and Carnival vessels built at Meyer Turku. The first ship Costa Smeralda for Costa Crociere sailed away in December 2019. Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras was delivered in December 2020.
Costa Smeralda is the largest and the most advanced cruise ship for Costa Crociere. The focus of the LNG powered vessel is on sustainability and new innovations. NIT designed and built 6000 m2 of passenger spaces: Family Restaurant, Kids Club and Sundeck with Spanish Stairs. Also 6000 m2 of crew staircases were built.
Carnival Mardi Gras is filled with unique and fun activities and has the first in the world onboard roller coaster. NIT delivered both passenger and crew areas for the ship as turnkey projects. This included over 2600 m2 of external areas: Ultimate playground with WaterWorks, SportSquare, ropes course and mini-golf, all of which are embraced by the onboard roller coaster Bolt. For interiors NIT built a total of 7400m2: Crew stairs and offices, Family Lounge and Kids Club.
Both ships are owned by Carnival Corporation and belong to the series of vessels for which NIT has work ongoing at the moment. Costa Smeralda’s sister ship Costa Toscana is being finalized and will be delivered at the end of 2021. Carnival Mardi Gras’s sister vessel Carnival Celebration will leave Meyer Turku a year after in 2022.
